Tom Clark is AdvanSix’s Technical Market Lead for the Packaging sector. He obtained his Honors B.S. in Engineering Science & Mechanics from Penn State and his Ph.D. in Materials Science from Lehigh University. Tom developed new paperboard structures and managed the permeation lab for International Paper. He then oversaw barrier testing and commercialized new oxygen scavengers for PET bottles at Eastman Chemical Company.
Most recently, Tom was the subject matter expert for barrier testing and shelf life modeling at Kraft/Mondelez International. While there he partnered with the supply chain to develop, optimize, and bring to market numerous new film structures. Some of his commercial product launches include the glass-to-PET conversion of Planters’ Peanut jar and the innovative, clean-label Véa crackers, both of which are still on store shelves.
